Family Frequently Asked Questions
-
Toggle ItemI live in Quads 2, 3, or 4 and submitted the intentions form. What should I expect next? After your request is reviewed, your name will be added to the Family Housing waitlist. You will receive a notification on your housing message board once this occurs.
-
Toggle ItemWhat if I'm already on the waitlist? We'll update your waitlist request with the information you provide in this form.
-
Toggle ItemWhat is the transfer offer process? As apartments become available, they will be offered first to students currently living in Quads 2, 3, or 4, based on waitlist position (which is based on your current contract start date) and stated preferences.
-
Toggle ItemWhat happens when I receive an offer?Offers will come via text and email using the contact information you provide on this form as well as your housing message board.
-
Toggle ItemI got an offer but I don't want the apartment offered. Will I get another offer?Because we have a limited number of apartments available, we will do our best to offer you a unit that could work for your needs. If you choose to decline that offer, you would need to wait until all other families requesting transfers have been given an opportunity to receive an offer. After that, we would begin again from the top of the list. Please note that receiving an offer is not guaranteed, and we may not be able to extend a second offer.
-
Toggle ItemIf I get an offer, when can I move?If you are offered an apartment and accept the offer, you can begin moving over to the new apartment on the contract start date.
-
Toggle ItemWill rent be different if I transfer to a new apartment?Yes, if you are offered an apartment to transfer to that is bigger or smaller than your current apartment or if it's an apartment in Wyview, your rent will change automatically when your new contract begins. If you are staying within Wymount and in a similar sized apartment (for example, a 2 bedroom to a 2 bedroom), your rent will stay the same.
-
Toggle ItemWhat do I have to clean when I move out?You must remove all belongings, furniture, and trash from your old apartment. You must also clean the fridge, turn off all faucets, run the disposal, and flush the toilet.
-
Toggle ItemHow long do I have to move into my new apartment? You have seven days from your accepted transfer contract start date or until 11:59pm on June 1 (whichever comes first) to vacate your old apartment.
-
Toggle ItemWhat happens if I don't receive an offer? If you do not receive an offer to transfer to a new apartment, you must vacate your apartment no later than 11:59pm on June 1. You must remove all belongings, furniture, and trash from your apartment and complete the cleaning requested.
-
Toggle ItemI'm graduating and leaving, do I need to submit a termination notice? If you are planning to move out by the June 1 deadline, no further action is required. In the coming days, your contract will be updated to reflect an end date of June 1.
If you wish to move out earlier, please contact our office and let us know your intended move-out date.
You are responsible for rent and utilities through June 1 or your stated move-out date, whichever comes first. -
Toggle ItemWhen do I need to be out by?Whether you are transferring apartments or leaving BYU, your apartment must be completely vacated by June 1 at 11:59 PM. You are welcome to move out sooner by contacting our office with your earlier move out date, if you are leaving BYU. If you are offered an apartment to transfer to, your transfer offer will have the date you need to be out of your apartment by.
-
Toggle ItemI've submitted my transfer request, now what? We'll begin processing them all and reach out to you with any questions or concerns we have.
-
Toggle ItemDo I need to clean or do anything to my apartment when I move out or transfer? Please make sure all personal belongings, furniture, and trash have been removed and the apartment is left completely empty. Please also clean out the refrigerator, flush the toilet, run the garbage disposal, and ensure all faucets are turned off.
